FinanceYOU is a social enterprise based in Kigali, Rwanda. Our mission is to advance the accounting industry in East Africa, so that it can support the significant development and investment occurring throughout the continent.

Our goal is to help companies maximize profits through effective and efficient accounting practices. Through our training programs, we want to produce the next leaders in the accounting industry, who can excel in their roles and move upwards in their organizations.

Team

Erin Godard

Co-founder

Erin is an accountant, turned social entrepreneur, from Toronto, Canada. She has over 5 and a half years’ experience in public accounting at Ernst and Young LLP, working with a broad range of clients; from one of Canada’s largest publically traded banks, to small not-for-profit organizations. In 2014, she was seconded to Melbourne, Australia, to work on one of EY’s largest banking clients in the Oceania region.

For the past three years at EY, she has been actively involved in both the development and delivery of internal training programs, ranging from introductory courses; teaching new hires the basics, to specialized courses in complex accounting topics, such as financial instruments and allowances for credit losses.

Prior to beginning her career at Ernst and Young LLP, she studied at McGill University in Montreal and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong, completing a Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in Accounting, in 2011.

Erin was a Board Member for the Toronto-based not for profit organization Albion Neighbourhood Services and have volunteered with a number of not-for-profit organizations over the course of her career, both in Toronto and abroad.

Outside of work, Erin enjoys traveling, running, playing ice hockey and volunteering in her community.

Pascal Ambrosino

Co-founder

Pascal hails from Toronto, Canada, where for the past 3 years, he worked at Duff & Phelps, a premier global valuation and corporate advisory firm. His practice focused on valuation, damages quantification and M&A advisory services. He has prepared and critiqued numerous expert reports in both litigious and non-litigious matters including business valuations, shareholder disputes, tax disputes, damages quantification, fairness opinions, sell-side and buy-side M&A, debt/equity financings, estate planning, corporate governance, succession planning, and corporate reorganizations.

Pascal also has 3 years’ experience in public accounting at Ernst and Young LLP, working with a broad range of clients; from the financial sector to manufacturing, and both public and private entities. At EY, he worked in Toronto, Canada and Los Angeles, California with public and private entities reporting under both IFRS and US GAAP.

At EY, he was actively involved in the training and mentorship of staff enrolled in the CPA program. He was responsible for teaching exam techniques to approximately 100 staff and running the EY CPA Mentorship Program to ensure staff successfully complete all CPA exams on their first attempt.

In his free time, Pascal enjoys hiking, cooking, and traveling.
